The Discovery Flight is the easiest way to find out what flying is really like. You will fly a Piper Cherokee out of Oconee County Airport (KCEU) in Seneca, South Carolina, about two miles from Clemson University, with an Upstate Flight School instructor next to you the entire time.
Plan on roughly 90 minutes total: a pre-flight walkaround and briefing on the ground, about 60 minutes in the air, and a short debrief afterward. You will be hands-on the controls for most of the flight, actually doing the flying, while your instructor guides you and takes anything you are not ready for yet.
No experience is required and there is no obligation to continue. Friends or family are welcome to come watch. If you decide to keep going, the time you fly today counts toward your Private Pilot certificate, so the Discovery Flight doubles as a real first lesson.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, and bring sunglasses. We fly weather permitting; if conditions would not make for a good first flight, we will reschedule at no charge.
